Today's feature is a little different. Instead of featuring an Etsy shop, I am featuring some lovely hand-painted cards sold by a young lady through a blog.
Christina, the blogger behind
Cards by Emily contacted me recently about doing a giveaway here on this blog. After seeing the lovely cards that are for sale on this blog, I was happy to agree!
Christina runs a blog where she sells hand-painted cards by the very talented Emily of
Emily Shultz Fine Art. Her cards and paintings depict peaceful scenes, scripture verses and people.
Sunshine:
When did you begin making cards?
Emily: When I was thirteen, I began selling cards from designs I copied with pen and ink out of an old primer. I called my business "Small Beginnings".
Sunshine:
What inspires your designs?
Emily:
Today, most of my card art comes from experiences I've had, or scenes I saw. One year I tried to do a watercolor a week, that reflected the changing of the seasons. Most of my cards come from that project.
Sunshine:
Do you have a best seller?
Emily:
I would say that would be a teacup, done in colored pencil. I no longer sell that card, because it doesn't copy well anymore, but it was popular.
Sunshine:
How long have you been interested in art?
Emily:
I always liked it, ever since I was little. You know how children love to draw and color...I never stopped. My Grandpa encouraged me, and bought me drawing pencils and sketched with me. I checked out how-to-draw books at the library. I would copy Tasha Tudor's work, and Kate Greenaway girls. I have a couple early sketch books that prove I was not an art prodigy, but I liked it, and just kept on.
Sunshine:
Is there anything else you would like to tell us about yourself, or what you sell?
Emily:

Thank you for sharing your beautiful artwork with us, Emily!
